he got a cd
he doesn't return phone calls until weeks later, and he has a less than enthusiastic attitude when he does. so that's really unacceptable. we chalk it up to graduate school. he is...we're not.
so what did we decide to do? make a mixed cd. :) that brightens the day of all. at least it did ours... and we sent starbucks and marble slab gift certs assuming that he's listen to the cd on the way to starbucks and break up the supposed studying with a little marble slab. then, maybe, if we're lucky, he'd call us during those times and be more enthusiastic than he was the last time he called...
at any rate, how did he manage to get presents out of not calling us back?

Chalking it up to grad school huh? That may be so, or it could have been any number of things. You certainly took the high road, giving him the benefit of the doubt, making him a CD, and giving him study break options. However, if he is too involved in grad school to appreciate what you did for him and demonstrate so, then he is not worth your time or effort. His reaction to your kindness should tell you a lot.
